Case study

A Mississauga karate school with two locations

They were stuck on pages 4 and 5. On the Authority plan we built pages for each location and class, earned local links and published blog posts parents were searching for. After 7 to 8 months they reached page 1.

What we build

The pages a dojo needs to rank

Most martial arts websites have a home page, a schedule and a contact form. That is not enough to show up for the dozens of ways people search for classes.

Karan Vrach plans the pages and content. Kaleb Hayes earns links from local sites, community groups and event listings through our link building work.

Parent checklist

What parents check before booking a trial

Parents choosing a school for their child compare carefully. A website that answers these questions gets the trial booking.

Who teaches the classes

Instructor names, ranks, years of experience and safety training. Parents want to know who their child will be with.

Class times that fit

A clear, up-to-date schedule by age group that is easy to read on a phone.

Safety and environment

Mats, supervision, class sizes and how beginners are introduced. A short video tour helps a lot.

Pricing and commitment

Monthly fees, family discounts and whether there is a long contract. Hidden pricing loses parents.

What children gain

Focus, confidence, fitness and respect, explained in plain words with real examples from your classes.

How to start

A simple free trial or first class booking that takes less than a minute.

Trial bookings

Turning searches into trial classes

For most schools, the goal of SEO is simple: more people booking a first class. Every page should lead there.

A parent searching "kids karate near me" on a Tuesday evening is ready to act. If your Google profile shows the right category, clear hours and a booking link, and your website loads fast with a trial button at the top, there is a good chance that parent books before closing the browser.

We build each program page around that moment: who the class is for, what happens in the first session, what to wear, how much it costs and a single clear button to book. Then we connect the Google profile directly to that booking page, so fewer people drop off along the way.

Seasons matter too. September and January bring big waves of searches as families plan activities and adults make resolutions. After 9 years and more than 1,500 campaigns, including martial arts schools, we know pages and posts need to be live weeks before those peaks.

Local authority

Links and mentions from your sport and your community tell Google your school is established and active. These are the sources we pursue:

  • Provincial and national federation or association directories
  • Tournament and event listings
  • Schools, community centres and youth programs you partner with
  • Local parenting and family activity websites
  • Local chambers of commerce and business associations

What to avoid

Martial arts SEO mistakes we fix

One page for every program

Kids, adults, BJJ and kickboxing need their own pages to rank.

A schedule in an image or PDF

Google cannot read it well, and it is hard to use on a phone.

No pricing information

Parents often move on if they cannot get a sense of cost.

Wrong category on Google

Choosing "gym" instead of "martial arts school" costs visibility.

Owner questions

Questions school owners ask us

Can I rank with more than one location?

Yes. Each location needs its own Google profile and page. Our karate school case study shows how two locations grew together.

Should I make separate kids and adults pages?

Yes. Parents and adults search differently and want different information.

Do videos help?

Short class videos help visitors decide and keep them on your site longer, which supports your rankings.

How soon could I see more trial bookings?

Google Maps changes often show within 30 to 60 days when the profile and pages are set up well.

Should I blog about techniques?

Short, helpful articles for beginners and parents work better than advanced technique posts. Think first class tips, belt testing and choosing a style.

Do summer camps need their own page?

Yes. Parents search for camps months ahead, so a dedicated camp page published in early spring can fill spots before summer.

    FAQ

    Martial arts SEO questions

How much does SEO for a martial arts school cost?

Plans are $99, $290 or $499 a month in CAD, month to month. A single-location dojo usually does well on Growth. Schools with two or more locations, or in very competitive cities, usually need Authority. See our SEO pricing.

How long does it take to rank a dojo on page 1?

It depends on the city and your starting point. In our karate school case study, two Mississauga locations moved from pages 4 to 5 up to page 1 in 7 to 8 months on the Authority plan.

Should each location have its own page?

Yes. Each location needs its own Google Business Profile and its own page on your site, with that address, timetable and local details. One page for every location rarely ranks well.

Do blog posts help a martial arts school?

They do when they answer what parents and new students actually ask: the right age to start, what to wear to a first class, how belt testing works. Those posts bring in searches your class pages cannot.

Can you help with Google Maps rankings?

Yes. Maps is where most "near me" searches end. We optimize your profile, categories, photos and reviews process as part of our local SEO and Google Business Profile optimization work.

    Is there a contract?

No. Every plan is month to month. Cancel with 7 days written notice before your next billing date.
